Symfonic rockband Lorian
At the beginning of this century, Eric played in the symphonic rock band Lorian. With René van Dalen, Pepijn Heemskerk, Marc Besselink and Jeroen Vriend they performed, among other things, as a support act at performances of Manfred Mans’ Earth band in 013 and the Patronaat.
Guitar band Airbag Mustard
When Lorian retired, he played for a few years in Airbag Mustard. Songs were written by Coen Seegers, band members were Michiel van Emmerik, Ruben Derakhshan and varying vocals. Just before the end they recorded a CD in Studio 150..
For a few years he didn’t play. He was busy with his shop where he sold high end travel bicycles. Eric cycled over 250.000 kilometers over the world and published 8 books about cycling and his trips.
Until he built his house on the Lijnbaansgracht with a so-called ‘Marc Dutroux’ space. This way he could practice to his heart’s content in his isolated man cave undisturbed. Eric took drum lessons with Marco Baggiani at the Muziekpakhuis, went to the Drum Een Daagse and even the Drum Drie Daagse and got excited again.
Kings’ Day
The best gigs were the Drum Battles on King’s Day.
Eric places a party tent with two drum sets on the lowest bridge in Amsterdam. For 1 Euro passers-by can then groove, press a paradiddle, play disco, rock, funk, house or jazz, or just a solo. Most times he did this with friend and colleague drummer Jo Jo Stuijt from the band wolfcoat .
At the end of the day, Eric bass drummed holes in his socks, drummed the blisters on his fingers and this fun day costed more in broken sticks than yielded in euros..

Lorian 2
He was asked by René van Dalen and Pepijn van Heemskerk to play in the new Lorian, with Pierre as singer and saxophonist with midi and Peter Keuchenius on bass. Great music until after a frustrating day of recording Pierre gave up.
Jazz band Blue Moose
Under the direction of Simon Lutz he drummed a fe years in Blue Moose; a jazz band from the Muziekpakhuis.
Jazz quintet Besogne
With he Jazz quintet Besogne (Ioana Angelescu, Jeroene Heijne, Frans van de Vijver and Wim van Sante) he started playing jazz standards..
Jam sessions
As if that wasn’t enough, Eric went every tuesday to the jam session in the Jazzcafé ‘t Geveltje. But Hans Ruigrok retired.
Then Eric organized jam sessions in his kitchen for a while. Until Corona broke out.
